Community Guidelines
Version 1.1 · Last updated: October 17, 2026
TutorPathway connects families with tutors, often for young children. These guidelines describe the behaviour we expect from everyone — parents, guardians, tutors and staff — and what happens when someone breaks them. They are part of the Terms of Service.
1. Be respectful and honest
- Treat everyone with courtesy. No harassment, threats, hate speech, discrimination or sexual content.
- Be truthful about who you are. One person, one account. No fake profiles or impersonation.
- Tutors describe only their own tutoring and never claim checks that TutorPathway did not make: "Identity checked" means only that we reviewed an Emirates ID.
- Reviews must be genuine and follow the Review Policy.
2. Keep children safe
- Children do not have accounts. Tutors communicate with the parent or guardian, never directly with a child without their parent or guardian's knowledge.
- Never ask for or share a child's photos, school, address or other identifying details beyond what is needed for lessons.
- Follow the Safeguarding Policy.
3. Communicate safely
- Before a tutor accepts an inquiry, messages may not contain phone numbers, e-mail addresses or links — they are refused. After acceptance they are allowed, with a safety reminder.
- Do not pressure anyone to pay before you have agreed on lessons, or to move a conversation away from TutorPathway before an inquiry has been accepted.
- Do not send spam, advertising or the same message to many people. Rate limits apply: up to 10 new inquiries a day for parents, up to 30 proposals a day for tutors, and up to 20 messages a minute for everyone.
- You can block someone at any time. A block stops their messages, inquiries and proposals to you. You can unblock them under My reports.
4. Reporting
Signed-in users can report a tutor profile (except their own), and the people in a marketplace conversation can report that conversation. You choose one of these categories and describe what happened:
-
A child’s safety
-
Harassment or threats
-
Inappropriate content
-
Scam or fraud
-
Fake or misleading profile
-
Pressure to pay or talk outside TutorPathway
-
Spam
-
Something else
-
Reports about a child's safety are marked urgent and handled first.
-
You can have one open report per item, and file up to 5 reports in any 24 hours.
-
A conversation report records the references (ids) of the most recent 50 messages, not their content.
-
You can follow the status of your reports under My reports: open, investigating, resolved or dismissed. You will not see our internal notes or the action taken, and we never tell the reported person who reported them.
-
If a child is in immediate danger, contact the police first.
5. How we investigate
Reports are handled by our platform administrators, who keep encrypted internal notes. Nobody handles a report they filed or one about themselves.
While a conversation report is open or being investigated, an administrator who is not part of that conversation may reveal the referenced messages. They are shown only for that one page view, and every reveal is recorded in our audit log with the message references. Once the report is closed, the messages can no longer be revealed. Apart from this, administrators cannot read marketplace messages.
6. What we can do
Depending on what we find, we may:
- send a warning by e-mail;
- unpublish a profile — the tutor can publish it again unless a publishing block applies;
- restrict an account, with or without an end date:
- Messaging block — the person cannot send marketplace messages.
- Publishing block — the tutor's profile is kept off search and public pages.
- Inquiry block — new inquiries to the tutor are locked; the tutor cannot read or answer them.
- Suspension or ban — a tutor's profile disappears from search and public pages, inquiries and messages stop, and their marketplace workspace becomes read-only (records can be viewed and exported but not changed); a parent or guardian cannot send messages or inquiries, post requests, write reviews or file reports.
- place a legal hold, which preserves the account's records — while it is active nothing it covers is deleted or anonymised, even after a deletion request or the end of a retention period;
- contact the authorities where the law requires it or a child may be at risk.
A restriction with an end date stops applying automatically at that time, and we may lift any restriction early. Every action is recorded in our audit log. If you disagree with a decision, reply to our warning e-mail or contact us through our contact page.
