Parent Terms

Version 1.1 · Last updated: October 17, 2026

These Parent Terms apply to parents and legal guardians who use the TutorPathway marketplace to find tutors for their children. They add to the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy, which also apply.

1. Your account

  • A parent account is free. TutorPathway never charges parents or guardians.
  • You must be at least 18 years old and the parent or legal guardian of every child you add. You confirm this when you register, and we record the date of your confirmation.
  • Children do not have accounts and cannot register or sign in. You manage each child's profile, your inquiries and messages, and — once you work with a tutor — the child workspace in the family portal.
  • Keep your account details accurate, including your mobile number, country and city. Your mobile number is never shown to tutors.

2. Child profiles

You can add a profile for each child with a first name or nickname, grade, curriculum, subjects, goals and preferred lesson format. We recommend a nickname. Child profiles are never public and no tutor can see them. When you choose "Match my child", we use the profile to pre-fill a search; only the subject is a strict filter.

3. Finding a tutor

  • You can search tutors by subject, grade band, curriculum, online or face-to-face lessons, city and area, price, language and availability. Guests can search too.
  • "Best match" ranking is transparent: points are added when a tutor matches your grade band (20), curriculum (15), lesson format (10), city (10), area (5) and availability (10), plus up to 10 points for profile completeness and up to 10 points for ratings (only once a tutor has at least 3 published reviews). No tutor can pay for a better position.
  • You can save tutors to favourites and collections with private notes (only you can see them), compare up to 4 tutors side by side, and save searches with instant, daily or weekly e-mail alerts that you can switch off at any time with one click.
  • "Identity checked" means only that TutorPathway reviewed the tutor's Emirates ID. It is not a check of qualifications, background or permits. Everything else on a profile is written by the tutor. Please make your own checks before your child's first lesson.

4. Contacting tutors

  • You can send up to 10 new inquiries in any 24 hours. You may link one of your child profiles; before you share a child, the tutor sees at most the grade and curriculum, never the name.
  • Do not include phone numbers, e-mail addresses or links in an inquiry or in messages until the tutor has accepted your inquiry. Messages with contact details are refused before acceptance; afterwards they are allowed, with a safety reminder.
  • Some tutors may not be able to reply at the moment. Your inquiry then waits for up to 30 days. If the tutor can respond within that time, they will see it; if not, it expires, its content is erased and we suggest similar tutors. We tell you up front when a tutor may not be able to reply.
  • Messages are text only (no attachments) and are encrypted at rest. You can block a tutor at any time; a block stops their messages, inquiries and proposals to you.

5. Tutoring requests and proposals

You can post a tutoring request describing what your child needs (no contact details), with up to 5 open requests at a time. Matching tutors can send you one proposal each. You can compare, shortlist, decline or accept proposals. A request closes automatically after 30 days, or when you close it or mark it fulfilled.

6. Working with a tutor

  • When a tutor invites you to add your child as a student, you decide. Only when you tick "Share my child's details with this teacher" does the tutor's workspace receive your child's first name or nickname, grade and curriculum, and your name and e-mail address. Your mobile number, your child's goals and your other children are not shared.
  • You then use the family portal for that tutor to see lessons, homework, reports and invoices, and the child workspace to hand in homework and take online assessments with your child.
  • From that moment, the records the tutor keeps about your child are the tutor's responsibility (the tutor is the controller and TutorPathway processes them for the tutor). Ending the arrangement does not delete records the tutor already keeps; ask the tutor if you want them removed.

7. Lessons and payment

  • The agreement for lessons is between you and the tutor. TutorPathway is not a party to it, does not employ tutors and is not responsible for the lessons themselves.
  • TutorPathway does not process lesson payments. You pay the tutor directly, by the method you agree together. Tutors may send you invoices through the family portal and record your payments, but TutorPathway never receives or holds that money.
  • Agree prices, cancellation rules and the place of lessons with the tutor in writing before you start. Be careful with anyone who pressures you to pay before you have agreed anything, or to move your conversation away from TutorPathway before an inquiry is accepted — and please report it.

8. Reviews

After you have worked with a tutor you can write one verified review for that arrangement. Who can review, the edit window, how reviews are checked and when ratings are shown are explained in the Review Policy. Never name or identify your child in a review.

9. Safety, reporting and restrictions

  • Follow the Community Guidelines and the Safeguarding Policy.
  • You can report a tutor profile, a conversation you are part of, or a published review. You can see the status of your reports and the people you blocked under My reports.
  • If we suspend or ban your account, you cannot send messages or inquiries, post requests, write reviews or file reports while the restriction applies. A restriction with an end date stops applying automatically at that time.
  • If a child is in immediate danger, contact the police first.

10. Ending your account

You can download your data or delete your account at any time from Settings → Privacy & my data. Deletion takes effect after a 30-day grace period, unless a legal hold applies. See the Privacy Policy.
