Identity Check Notice

"Identity checked" means only that an authorised TutorPathway administrator reviewed the Emirates ID the tutor uploaded and approved it.

It is not a check of qualifications, teaching experience, background or criminal record, and it does not confirm any licence or permit. TutorPathway never describes a tutor as "verified", "certified" or "background-checked". Tutors also declare at activation that they understand this and will not claim otherwise.

• The Emirates ID document you upload, as a PDF, JPEG or PNG file of up to 5120 KB.
• The review outcome (approved, rejected or resubmission requested), the dates, the reviewer and any reason or note given.

We use them only to confirm that the person offering tutoring is who they say they are, to keep children and families safe, and to answer questions from authorities where the law requires it. The legal basis is the performance of our contract with you and our legitimate interest in the safety of the marketplace, together with any legal obligation that applies.

• Each upload is checked by its content (not just its file name), and may be scanned for viruses.
• The file contents are encrypted and stored on private storage that is not reachable from the internet.
• Only authorised platform administrators can open a document, through a signed link that expires after 5 minutes. Administrators cannot review their own submission.
• Every view and every decision is recorded in our audit log.
• The document is never shown to parents or other users, never included in search or public pages, and never sent to an AI provider. Tutors cannot download their stored document either; they see only its status.

The document is deleted 90 days after the review decision. After that we keep only the outcome and the dates, so that we can show that the check took place.

The only exception is a legal hold: if the document must be preserved for an investigation or a legal claim, it is not deleted while the hold is active, even if the retention period has ended or the account is being deleted. It is deleted once the hold is released. If a tutor's account is removed, any remaining document is deleted together with the profile media, unless a legal hold applies.

You do not have to upload an Emirates ID, but without an approved identity check you cannot be listed on the marketplace or receive inquiries. You can ask us about your document or exercise your rights under the Privacy Policy through our contact page.
