Teacher Terms
Version 1.1 · Last updated: October 17, 2026
These Teacher Terms apply to tutors who list themselves on the TutorPathway marketplace. They add to the Terms of Service, the Privacy Policy and the Identity Check Notice, which also apply.
1. Your independent status
You are an independent tutor. You are not an employee, agent or contractor of TutorPathway, and TutorPathway does not supervise your lessons. You decide whether to accept a family, what you teach, your prices and your terms, and you are responsible for your lessons and conduct.
2. Activation and declarations
When you sign up as a teacher, a solo workspace and a marketplace profile are created for you. Before your profile can be checked you must affirmatively accept each of these declarations, and we record when you did:
- I am legally permitted to offer private tutoring services in the country where I teach, and I hold any licence or permit that applies to me.
- The information in my profile and the identity document I upload are genuine, accurate and my own.
- I will follow the TutorPathway safeguarding policy, keep communication with families on appropriate channels, and never contact a child without their parent or guardian’s knowledge.
- I understand that TutorPathway checks identity only and does not verify qualifications, background or permits, and I will not claim otherwise.
- I have read and accept the Teacher Terms and the Identity Check Notice.
You must keep these declarations true. Tell us straight away if anything changes.
3. The identity check
You upload your Emirates ID for review. Until an administrator approves it, you can only use your account, security, notification, privacy, billing and activation pages — you cannot edit or publish a profile, receive inquiries or use the business software. We may reject a document or ask you to upload it again, with a reason. How documents are protected and when they are deleted is explained in the Identity Check Notice.
Once approved, your profile can show "Identity checked". This is the only verification statement TutorPathway makes about you. It is not a check of qualifications, background or permits, and you must never describe yourself as "verified", "certified" or "background-checked" by TutorPathway.
4. Your free trial and subscription
- Your free trial of 60 days starts on the day your identity check is approved, not when you register. No card is needed. If your organization already has a valid subscription, it is kept and no trial is added.
- We remind you by e-mail 14, 7, 3 and 1 days before the trial ends, and again when it ends.
- To keep reading and answering inquiries after the trial, you need a TutorPathway subscription. Subscriptions are sold by Paddle, our merchant of record, which handles payment, invoices and VAT. Prices are on the pricing page. You can cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period. If a renewal payment fails, you keep access for 7 days.
- If your trial ends without a subscription: your published profile stays visible in search and your anonymous profile statistics continue, but your workspace becomes read-only and new inquiries are locked. You see only how many inquiries are waiting and a "Subscribe to respond" prompt — never the parent's name, child details or the message. Locked inquiries are unlocked as soon as you can respond again. Any that are still locked after 30 days expire and their content is erased. Locked and expired inquiries are never counted against your response badges.
5. Your profile
- You are responsible for everything on your profile. It must be accurate, written by you and about your own tutoring. Years of experience and other details are shown as your own statements.
- Do not put phone numbers, e-mail addresses or links in your public profile text; they are refused.
- Photos are re-encoded, which removes hidden location and camera data. Intro videos (up to 90 seconds) are shown only after our moderators approve them.
- You can publish your profile once it is complete, and unpublish it at any time. A published profile that loses a required item is taken offline automatically.
- You see anonymous statistics about views and search appearances, never who viewed your profile; small numbers are shown as "fewer than 3".
6. How search ranks tutors
"Best match" adds points for a matching grade band (20), curriculum (15), lesson format (10), city (10), area (5) and availability (10), up to 10 points for profile completeness, and up to 10 points for your rating — only once you have at least 3 published reviews, scaling from 0 points at an average of 3.0 to 10 points at 5.0. Ties go to the most recently published profile. Nobody can pay for a better position.
7. Badges
Badges are calculated automatically every day from evidence in the platform. Administrators never award them by hand, and a badge is removed when its criterion is no longer met. The criteria are exactly those shown in each badge's tooltip:
- Identity checked — TutorPathway reviewed this tutor’s Emirates ID. It is not a check of qualifications, background or permits.
- Quick responder — Median time to a first reply under 12 hours over their last 20 inquiries (at least 5 inquiries). Inquiries received while the tutor could not reply count from the moment they could.
- Highly rated — An average rating of at least 4.5 out of 5 from 5 or more verified reviews.
- Experienced on TutorPathway — Has 5 or more tutoring arrangements with families who found them on TutorPathway.
8. Inquiries, requests and proposals
- While you can respond, you can read and answer inquiries, accept or decline them, browse open tutoring requests that match your offerings, and send one proposal per request (up to 30 proposals in any 24 hours).
- Do not share or ask for contact details before you accept an inquiry; such messages are refused. After acceptance they are allowed, with a safety reminder.
- Never contact a child directly, and never ask a family to move to another channel to avoid our safety rules.
9. Families, children's data and your workspace
- When you choose "Add as a student" and the parent ticks "Share my child's details with this teacher", your workspace receives the child's first name or nickname, grade and curriculum, and the parent's name and e-mail address. Nothing is shared before the parent agrees.
- From then on you are responsible, as controller, for the records you keep in your workspace about that child and family, including having a lawful basis and answering their requests. TutorPathway processes those records for you. Record only what you need for teaching, communication and billing.
- If you turn on the AI assistant, the pseudonymisation and approval rules in the Terms of Service apply.
10. Payments for your lessons
TutorPathway does not process lesson payments. Families pay you directly, by the method you agree with them. You can issue invoices and record payments in your workspace, but TutorPathway never collects, holds or transfers that money. You are responsible for your prices, invoices, refunds, taxes (including VAT where it applies), and for any licence or permit that applies to your tutoring.
11. Reviews
Families you have worked with can review you under the Review Policy. You can post one public response to each review (it cannot be edited later) and report a review you believe breaks the policy. You cannot edit, hide or remove reviews yourself, and you must never offer anything in exchange for a review or write reviews about yourself.
12. Trust & safety and restrictions
Follow the Community Guidelines and the Safeguarding Policy. If we restrict your account:
- a messaging block stops you from sending marketplace messages;
- a publishing block keeps your profile off search and public pages while it applies;
- an inquiry block stops new inquiries reaching you (they are locked);
- a suspension or ban removes your profile from search and public pages, stops inquiries and messages, and makes your workspace read-only — you can still view and export your records, but you cannot change them.
A restriction with an end date stops applying automatically at that time. Warnings are sent to you by e-mail. If you disagree with a decision, reply to our e-mail or contact us through the contact page.
13. Leaving the marketplace
You can unpublish your profile, cancel your subscription, download your data or delete your account at any time. If you run your workspace alone, it is closed together with your account after the 30-day grace period. If we remove a teacher account for a serious breach, the workspace is suspended at once, the subscription is cancelled, the profile is unpublished and the account is deleted after the same grace period. Profile photos, intro videos and identity documents are then deleted, while invoices, payments and audit logs are kept. A legal hold postpones any deletion until it is released.
14. Contact
