Safeguarding Policy

Version 1.1 · Last updated: October 17, 2026

Many of the learners on TutorPathway are children. This policy explains how the platform is designed to protect them and what we expect from tutors, parents and guardians. It is part of the Terms of Service and every tutor agrees to follow it when they activate their account.

1. How the platform protects children

  • No child accounts. Children cannot register, sign in or send messages. A parent or legal guardian aged 18 or over manages everything for them.
  • Parents decide what is shared. Child profiles are private. Before a parent shares a child with a tutor, the tutor sees at most the child's grade and curriculum — never the name. Only when the parent ticks "Share my child's details with this teacher" does the tutor receive the child's first name or nickname, grade and curriculum.
  • Conversations are with adults. Marketplace conversations are always between a parent or guardian and a tutor. Contact details cannot be exchanged until the tutor has accepted the parent's inquiry.
  • No contact details on profiles. Tutors' public profiles may not contain phone numbers, e-mail addresses or links, and intro videos are shown only after moderation.
  • Identity checks. Every listed tutor's Emirates ID has been reviewed by our team. This confirms identity only — it is not a check of qualifications, background or criminal record. See the Identity Check Notice.
  • Reviews never identify children. A review that mentions the child's name is held for moderation, and moderators do not publish reviews that identify a child.

2. What we expect from tutors

  • Communicate with the parent or guardian. Never contact a child without their parent or guardian's knowledge, and never ask a child to keep anything secret.
  • Keep lessons and messages professional and appropriate to the child's age. Agree with the parent where lessons take place and who is present, and follow the arrangements you agreed.
  • Do not take, keep or share photos or recordings of a child without the parent's explicit agreement.
  • Record only the information you need for teaching, communication and billing, and keep it confidential.
  • Report any safeguarding concern to us and, where a child may be at risk, to the police or the competent child protection authority.

3. What we ask of parents and guardians

  • Make your own checks before the first lesson — references, qualifications and any licence or permit that applies — because TutorPathway checks identity only.
  • Agree the place, time and supervision of lessons with the tutor in advance, especially for face-to-face lessons.
  • Talk with your child about their lessons, and tell us if anything worries you.
  • Never name or identify your child in a review.

4. Reporting a concern

Use Report this profile on a tutor's profile or Report conversation in a conversation and choose the category "A child’s safety". These reports are marked urgent and handled first. While the report is open or being investigated, an administrator who is not part of the conversation may read the referenced recent messages; every such view is recorded in our audit log.

We may suspend or ban the account straight away, place a legal hold so that evidence is preserved even if a deletion is requested, and share information with the police or other authorities where the law requires it or a child's safety is at risk.

If a child is in immediate danger, call the police (999 in the UAE) first.
